Sowing dates for Autumn 2014
Growers should be aware that sowing winter beans too early may result in crops becoming too far forward in growth prior to the onset of winter.
The ideal sowing window for winter beans is mid October to Mid November, however we recommend not sowing until around the 10th Oct onwards.
If you intend sowing your winter beans early ensure that a good depth is achieved which gives the plants good opportunity to set root growth prior to the winter rather than vegetative top growth.
Leafy crops will be prone to damage by cold winds and could be more prone to early disease attack.
